Did you hear the one about the Chicago Gun Ban?

No? Well, let me tell you.

Young man enters an 80-year-old man’s home armed. Struggle ensues. Intruder’s gun goes off. Doesn’t cause harm. Homeowner also has gun. Homeowner kills intruder. No charges against homeowner.

But wait… What about the homeowner having a gun?

Chicago has a law which says a person may not own a handgun. So he saved his life, his wife’s life, but broke the law by having a gun. The intruder broke the law too, but it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t follow the laws just like other robbers, and he’s dead now anyway.

Good thing this homeowner broke the law, had a gun, and used his gun, or the end of this story probably would have been about the homeowner and his wife getting killed.

The Chicago Gun Ban is being fought in the Supreme Court as this law is being contested.

Now, if Mayor Daley doesn’t have the homeowner arrested for having a gun in Chicago, Daley’s allowing this homeowner to break the law Daley is fighting for so hard. If Daley does have the homeowner arrested for having a gun in Chicago, the public outcry will be the biggest Chicago’s seen in a good long while.

Maybe it’s time to reconsider the Chicago Gun Ban without wasting the Supreme Court’s time.

So, now you heard the one about the Chicago Gun Ban.

If you’re saying, “This isn’t funny,” you’re right. But you can’t deny that the Chicago Gun Ban is a joke.
