(9:36:22 PM) khorne99: freebsd!!!
(9:36:24 PM) khorne99: its pisser!!
(9:37:09 PM) arejay left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 264 seconds).
(9:38:34 PM) ardya: deja vu
(9:40:04 PM) khorne99: duuuuudes
(9:40:05 PM) khorne99: so
(9:40:08 PM) khorne99: sooooo
(9:40:09 PM) khorne99: ok
(9:40:16 PM) khorne99: so archlinux vs freebsd
(9:40:49 PM) khorne99: arch I can 1 upgrade all binary after 1 year reboot done 2 most things compile cleanly since most free software is deved on linux
(9:41:08 PM) khorne99: now freedbsd does have zfs but software raid 10 hey mdadm is FAST
(9:41:11 PM) khorne99: sooo
(9:41:15 PM) khorne99: very tuff call
(9:41:22 PM) Kumul left the room (quit: Quit: gone).
(9:41:23 PM) khorne99: since freebsd performance is slightly better apparently
(9:41:28 PM) khorne99: whew
(9:41:33 PM) khorne99: tuf tuf tuf
(9:42:46 PM) pfloyd: if all you care about is speed, then use Linux. if you care about QUALITY and documentation and robustness, then FreeBSD is a much better choice IMHO
(9:43:06 PM) pfloyd: also, Linux has had way more kernel vulnerabilities than FreeBSD has. I got sick of them years ago which was what prompted me to move to fbsd
(9:43:24 PM) computerkiller [~computerk@pool-96-252-176-23.tampfl.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
(9:45:51 PM) NoFX_SBC left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 240 seconds).
(9:50:58 PM) khorne99: but archlinux has auto upgrade fo kernel
(9:51:01 PM) khorne99: its rolling release
(9:51:08 PM) khorne99: so I have 2.6.39 now
(9:51:16 PM) khorne99: most stuff fixed supposedly
(9:51:27 PM) khorne99: and next on come sout i upgrade reboot
(9:51:31 PM) khorne99: all binary
(9:51:43 PM) khorne99: I hate having to recompile for days with freebsd ports to get recent version fo a program
(9:52:51 PM) ardya: days lulz
(9:54:29 PM) khorne99: try firefox
(9:54:32 PM) khorne99: pidgin
(9:54:40 PM) khorne99: and say i dunno postgresql and perl
(9:54:44 PM) khorne99: all deps
(9:54:49 PM) khorne99: with portmanager
(9:54:55 PM) khorne99: :)
(9:56:59 PM) nilsson: khorne99, you do realize freebsd has pkg_add, right?
(9:58:57 PM) pfloyd: khorne99: so use Linux and stop complaining?
(9:59:15 PM) computerkiller: hey is there a way to have pfsense do DNS at the router and have the computers register their DNS name with the router DNS via DHCP
(10:01:13 PM) Stellar [~Stellar@unaffiliated/stellar] entered the room.

(10:53:07 PM) khorne99: I am curious about freebsd and swap
(10:53:15 PM) khorne99: does freebsd need swap=ram on large amchines?
(10:53:30 PM) nit-wit [~nit-wit@unaffiliated/nit-wit] entered the room.
(10:55:27 PM) vener [~vener@lns-bzn-49f-62-147-170-243.adsl.proxad.net] entered the room.
