Michele Bachmann says she has received great receptions during recent visits to New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Iowa, but she is still not ready to announce her anticipated decision to run for president in 2012. The Minnesota Republican also told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren Tuesday the only candidate she is concerned about is President Barack Obama.
“This is really a referendum on Barack Obama — I’m not comparing myself to any other candidate, other than Barack Obama. I think that I come up favorably next to him. I have a strong private sector background,” Bachmann said. “My husband and I had nothing. We worked our way through college. We flipped some houses, got capital, and now we own two clinics. And we are very proud of turning a profit every month. President Obama seems to bash people who turn a profit, I think is a good thing.
“I want more American-made jobs — that's what I’m all about,” she said. “And I’m also a tax lawyer. I want to lower the tax rate and have a positive tax climate to create jobs in this country.”
Bachmann was asked about the debt ceiling.
“Guess what, watch the vote tonight — it will be a sea of red, Democrats joining Republicans against allowing the government to increase borrowing by $2.4 trillion,” she said before the vote was taken to not raise the ceiling.
