Linux job description

Los Angeles based Internet Brands is currently seeking a Senior Unix/Linux Administrator to be a member of the UNIX/Linux Administrator Group.

Responsibilities:

*As a Sr. Linux/Unix Admin you will be required administration as part of a Team of UNIX/Linux Administrators, all UNIX/Linux servers used in Production, Development, and/or Staging environments; including daily hands-on operation setup, configuration, general maintenance and troubleshooting.

*Administer the server hardware, UNIX/Linux operating system and selected system applications.

*Responsible for assisting the UNIX/Linux server users, including Oracle Database Administrators, Java or SQL Developers, QA, etc., with application specific usage, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

*Serves as primary or secondary point of contact for various components of the UNIX/Linux system such as Java Messaging, Image processing, Website Monitoring, Citrix Xen, etc.

*Respond to any service outage that affects the availability of the production website.

*Troubleshoot issues with Mail, DNS, Apache, and other software packages.

*Responsible for daily website usage and availability

Requirements:

*Knowledge of SUN Solaris based operating systems Solaris 8, 9, 10, & Solaris Zones

*Knowledge of one of the following Linux operating systems: Red Hat ES 3.x, ES 4.x or SuSE 9.x, 10.x, CentOS

*Knowledge of managing and configuring of Disk Array, SAN and NAS devices (NetApp)

*Citrix Xen

*Working knowledge of SUN Sparc Hardware, V440, V210, V100

*Working knowledge of Dell Hardware, 14xx, 18xx, 28xx series

*Working Knowledge of one of the Databases: Oracle , MySQL, Postgres Database

*Knowledge in BIND 9 and Apache and Postfix

*Use of excellent written and oral communication skills for technical subjects

*Punctual and professional working behavior

The ideal candidate will posses skills that include the ability to: maximize the availability (OS & Hardware) of the servers in the Unix environment; advise management staff of system related issues and their effect on the business related community; ensure that system remains operational and secure by keeping system/network technologies current; document system architecture and functionality for user reference and system auditing; research, test, verify and deploy new system technologies considered for use in the Unix environment and communicating these with upper management.
